BURNS, Leo - In loving memory of Leo Burns 82 years Wednesday, September 26th, 2012 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Lou Burns (St. Jules) of Val Therese. Loving father of Peter, Colleen (Kelly Mallette), Brenda (Brian McMahon), Michael (Gisele) and David (Cathy). Cherished grandfather of Tyler, Brennan, Amanda, Christopher, Tamara, Britny and Logan. Dear brother of Doreen Bourchier (John), late Kenneth (late Joan), Irma Worms (late Clarence), late Bill (Joan), Pat Beaudry (Claire), Harvey Reid (Rita), late Gerry Kervin (Leona), Rodney Burns (Ginette), Carol Jacobs (Ron), late Raymond (Jane), John (Candy), Steven (Diane) and Paul. Dear brother in law to Betty (deceased). Special Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents George and Ethel Burns and his stepmother Sarah. Leo was devoted to his community. He was a member of St. Kevin's Parish, the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. Leo believed that all children should be allowed to play which led him to become involved in his community. He belonged to the Ontario Municipal Recreation Association which led to Sudbury hosting in the Ontario Summer Games. Leo was instrumental in getting the Recreation Center and Arenas in Valley East, was inducted in the Valley East Sports Hall of Fame, coached hockey for over 50 years, was chairman of both the library and recreation boards. Along the way Leo won provincial volunteerism awards and was a positive influence to many people along the way. He was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed hunting with his family. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME Val Caron/Blezard Valley Chapel, 1815 Main St., Val Caron Friday from 1-5 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Kevin's Church, Val Therese Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
