CARRUTHERS, Dean Hartley - It is with great sadness that the family of Dean Hartley Carruthers of Wawa announces his death on January 7, 2012. He was 67 years of age. Dean was one of six children born to Agnes and Elmer Carruthers, both predeceased. A special mother, Grace Carruthers of Copper Cliff survives. Dean was married for many years to Ann (nee Cavanaugh). Together, they had three children: Bill, Scott (wife Pam) and Elizabeth Ann (predeceased). Dean was also the Poppa to two beautiful grandchildren, Amelia and Joshua. Dean is the uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his siblings: Donna Mather, Bud (Ross) and wife Joan; Suzanne Zinkie and husband John; Cynthia (Cindy) Abel and spouse William; Gary (predeceased in 2008). He leaves sisters- in-law Priscilla (Harry Travis), Marg Riley, Jane Perrault (Stan) and Susan Cavanaugh. For many years Dean was a part of the managerial staff at Algoma Steel. He was an avid hockey father, spending many hours watching his boys play the game. When the Anglican Church Women sold pies, it was Dean's job to deliver the pies. He loved to play golf and was actively involved in other community activities. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 13th in Wawa. Donations to the Hearth and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice is appreciated. “Go with God, Dean, and be in peace. You are greatly loved.“
