CASTAGNA, Rosa “Rosetta“ - Peacefully, with her children and grand children by her side at Maison Vale Hospice on the early morning of January 28, 2013 after a long courageous battle in her 84th year. Loving wife of Danilo for 55 years, cherished mother of daughter Maria and son Francesco, wife Heather, caring cousin (Gianna Dalla Riva), sister, zia and friend. Most adored nonna of Jose Danilo and Dante who brought her so much joy. Rosa is survived by two brothers Mario and Luciano (Lina), both in Italy. “Rosetta“ was a special lady to all who knew her. Coming from Recoaro Terme, Italy she made a good life for herself and family. She was a talented cook, known for her lasagna, brodo, and tiramisu. Rosa loved to garden, sew, knit and write. She was active in the Caruso Club and Montessori Choirs, St. Andrew Apostle Church and CWL. Rosa was a lady of great faith and showed kindness and consideration to everyone she met. Although her stay at the Vale Hospice was brief, the family would like to thank the staff and volunteers for their exceptional care and compassion. Thanks to all who helped Rosa on her journey- Marion Q., Linda, Libby, Karen, the CCAC, the Cancer Centre and Dr. Slaney, Warm Hearts and Rosa's kind friends. Rosa is now at peace and we will love her always. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Friends may call 2-5pm and 7-9pm Tuesday with parish prayers at 3:30 pm. Funeral Mass in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1250 Barrydowne Rd., Sudbury, Wednesday, January 30th, 2013 at 11am. Private burial.
