Chevrette, James M (Chevy)

The family announces with sorrow his death in Sudbury, Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the age of 82 years. Son of the late Michael Chevrette and of the late Mae Chevrette (Pandke). Much loved husband of Carol Chevrette (Johanson) for 56-years. Father to Ian Chevrette (Monique) of Ottawa and Christopher Chevrette of North Bay. Grandfather to Kalin Chevrette. Special brother-in-law to Diane Johanson and Jim Baxter of North Bay.  Brother of the late Ovas Chevrette (late Clara), and William “Bill” Chevrette. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his nephews, Skip (Roy) Chevrette (Sherry), John Chevrette (Silvana), Raymond Chevrette (late Suzanne), and Gerald (Red) Chevrette. Uncle to Darlene Dean. Also survived by his great nephews and nieces, Christina, John, Ryan, Lindsey, Stephanie, Justin, and his great great nephews and nieces, Hayden, Brayden, Corilton, Harrison, Robert, Luna, and Grace.

A hard working and dedicated person, he worked for Inco Ltd., as a Plant Protection Officer.  Prior to this, Jim spent 8-years with the Copper Cliff Police Department. In retirement, after 33-years, Jim took up golf and volunteered for the Cancer Centre for 18-years.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Jim was known for having a great sense of humour and will remain in the hearts of many.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Chronic Care Centre, for the excellent help and support taking care of Jim.

Donations to the McCulloch Hospice, the Alzheimer’s society, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 6, 2024, from 1-5pm at the Northbury Hotel and Conference Centre.
