Celebration of Life: CHABOT, Donald

A celebration of life will be held for Donald on Monday July 25th in Coniston. He passed away on March 2,2022. 

There will be a funeral mass at 9:30am at St Paul the Apostle Church in Coniston followed by a private family burial at St John's Cemetery in Garson. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Colonial Inn in Coniston from 12:30 to 4pm to celebrate his life. 

 

 

With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Donald (Don) Chabot of Coniston, Ontario on March 02, 2022 at the age of 89 at HSN Sudbury after a hard fought battle with cancer. Don was employed as a Shift Foreman at INCO for 34 years, retiring in 1989. He received a Life Membership for his years of service and Presidency in the Valley East Lions Club.

He is survived by 5 of 6 children: Wayne (Joan), Vaughn (Val), Douglas (Nanci), Stephen (Janis), Leann (Dru Germanoski) and predeceased by Donald Jr. He is also survived by 2 of 3 step children: Emile (Mary), Lynn (Kevin) with Jacqueline predeceased. He also had 18 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who turned to him as the last member of that generation.

Predeceased by his wife Yolande (Jalbert), his parents Joseph Chabot and Helen Evans as well as his 10 siblings: Owen, Graham, Vera (James Uren), Ronald (Vicki), Dorothy (George Nowlan), Desmond (Mary), Helen Barkley, Cecil (Alice), Daniel (Claire) and Richard (Mary).

His Daughter Leann noted: As we grew, your strong stern voice has become a soft encouraging whisper. Sternness to guide and teach us. Strong to help us grow and be on our way. Your whispers have been with us all our lives. When it was time, you placed your hands across your chest and felt us hugging you. Your whispers of wisdom will be with us always.

 

A Special thank you to Dr. Singh and the caring staff of Health Sciences North under difficult circumstances and the homecare staff of March of Dimes and Bayshore Home Health Sudbury.

 

Church and prayer services will be arranged in the future.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northeast Cancer Treatment Center.
