CHARETTE, J. N. “Pat“ - passed away quietly at the Pioneer Manor in Sudbury in his 101st year. Son of Napoleon Charette and Anna (Charette-Gagne, nee Renaud) both predeceased. He was also predeceased by his first wife Aline (nee Pedneault). He leaves his wife Lina (nee Thibeault) and daughter Lorraine Blais, partner Barney Burant (husband Jean-Guy predeceased) of Val Caron, and Daniel (wife Susan) both from Hamilton. Pat had six grandchildren, Michel Blais, Nicole Blais (partner John Kotyouk) , Joanne Blais, Marc Blais (wife Rachel), Jasmine Charette, and step granddaughter Cassandra Dionne as well as 4 great grandchildren; Patrick Blais, Roxanne Blais, André Blais and Aline Blais. Pat is survived by his brother Larry Gagne (wife Madeleine) of St-Catherines and his sister Irene Jones of Val Caron. Predeceased by sisters Anna Lamoureux, Elizabeth St-Jacques, Jeanne Vaillancourt, Reine Jones, brother Auguste Gagne, and Lucien Renaud. Pat was well known and respected in the Sudbury area having owned several businesses (Sun Valley Lodge, West Arm Nippissing 1940's, Lindy's Snack Bar & Gas Station, Sudbury, 1950's, and Pat's Marina & Trailer Park, French River, 1960's), as well as being very active with the Progressive Conservative Party as a successful Campaign Manager and fundraiser. In his later years, he became a Justice-of-the-Peace at the Sudbury Courthouse presiding over Traffic and Bail courts during the 1970's. During that time he was also a board member for the Pioneer Manor. Pat enjoyed being around family and friends. He travelled to Florida for 6 months a year for 52 yrs of his life living in Miami, Dania, Hollywood and finally in Lake Worth. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. As per his wishes, there will be no viewing. He is to be cremated and there will be a small memorial service at St-Jean-de-Brébeuf Church, Sudbury, Friday, March 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Donations (by cheque only) to the Sudbury Food Bank would be greatly appreciated.
