Original Obituary
CHARRON, Marcel Robert
April 4, 1967 – March 28, 2023
After a long, hard-fought, and courageous battle with cancer, it is with the heaviest of hearts that the family announces the passing of Marcel Robert Charron at the young age of 55. Beloved and precious son of Ray Charron (Sue) of Sudbury and Jacqueline Lapointe-McCuaig (Patrick) of Hanmer. Cherished and adored husband of nearly 25 years to Catherine Charron and devoted father of Zachary and Allen all of Sudbury.
Dear brother of Chantal Charron (predeceased and waiting at heaven’s door for her big brother). Brother-in-law of Steven (Joanne) of Sault Ste. Marie, Richard of Sudbury, Lana Blanchette of Milton and Lorelei Lewis of Sault Ste. Marie. Loving uncle of Patrick Martin (Samantha) of Sudbury, John Ryan (predeceased), Amanda Carruthers of Nova Scotia and extra special great uncle of Miley of Sudbury.
He will be deeply missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his brothers and sisters at Mine Mill Local 598.
After high-school, Marcel began his work life working for various employers throughout the Sudbury region with one being a bouncer for 7 years at the Ambassador Hotel where he met his wife Catherine.
He began a career at Falconbridge (Glencore) in 2001 as a mill operator. From there, his interest in the union (Mine Mill Local 598) grew quickly. He held many union leadership positions with his most recent and last position being elected as the Local Union President. Marcel’s passion to help others and to promote fairness was a high priority to him.
Marcel’s best places outside of home and work were camping, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He always enjoyed good company and he sure loved to laugh. Marcel had a favorite word which was just as much a part of him as his own limbs and anyone that was lucky enough to know him would know exactly what that word was. We know he would be mad if there wasn’t any mention of it here.
At Marcel's request, there will be no funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Services and a celebration of life will take place within the coming months. In lieu of flowers, donations to Maison McCullough Hospice Sudbury in Marcel’s memory would be greatly
appreciated.
