CHARTRAND, Léon Sir Knight (Mgr. Roger Despatie Assembly) - The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury, Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the age of 79 years. Son of the late Joseph and the late Lorenza (née Levac) Chartrand. Beloved husband of Claire Chartrand (née Carrière) of Sudbury. Loving father of Michel Chartrand (Louane), Lise Franklin (Dave), Joanne Chartrand, Pierre Chartrand, Gilles Chartrand, Pauline Salo (Eric), Denise Chartrand (Bob Radey) and Charles Chartrand (Darlene). Dear brother of Alma McMurray (late Joseph), Marie Fortin (Roland), Denise Stewart (Wesley), Laurier Chartrand (Pauline) and Madeleine Labelle (Gilles). Predeceased by his brothers and sisters, George, Albert (Thérèse), Ernest (Cécile), Lucien (Jeanne) and Diane Brulé (Hector). Cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Léon was a retired hoist man with Inco after 39 years of service. The focus of his life was his loving family who will miss him dearly. He will be remembered for having been a dedicated member of St- Dominique parish as well as a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, in the 3rd degree, Council 9619, St-Dominique, Sudbury and in the 4th degree, Mgr. Roger Despatie Assembly. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E. (at Notre-Dame), Sudbury, Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, April 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St-Dominique Church, Sudbury. Donations (by cheque only) to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated.
