February 10, 2011 83

CHRICHTON, Ralph Leonard - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph Leonard Crichton, who died suddenly and peacefully at home on Feb 9th. An incredible husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, and a deeply good man. Ralph was born in Whitefish in 1928. He lived his whole life in Sudbury, most of that in Minnow Lake. He married Evelyn Radey in 1950 and celebrated 60 wonderful years in a marriage that was a great example to all. Ralph, son of William Crichton and Clara Nault, (predeceased) was brother to Roger (Kaireen), & twin to Reta Robertson (Robbie) (Ignatius Hickey pre-deceased). Loving father of Jim, (Agnes) Judi Brabant (Yvon), Bob (Laura) of Kingston, Janet Gasparini (Gil) and Tom (Sarah). Grandfather to Bridget Brosko (Derek), Jennifer Crichton, Paul Brabant, (Meredith), Sean Brabant (Callie), Lisa McLaren (Murray), Cassandra and Michael Crichton, Katie Richardson (Cliff), Carly Gasparini (Pete Whittington), Kristina and Kelsey Gasparini, Amelia, William and Sam Crichton. Great grandpa to Emilie, Sophie, Owen, Ruby, Quin, Alexis, Dawson, Anderson, Annabelle and Carter. Missed by many nieces and nephews. He was a cherished brother in law to Matt Radey, (Mary predeceased), Rita Bowman (Gordon) and John, Patrick, Mae and Annie Radey all predeceased. Ralph spent his work career at Inco retiring in 1982. At that point he started his second career volunteering at the soup kitchen, delivering meals on wheels, driving for the Red Cross and volunteer co-ordinator for the Stone Soup luncheon. Ralph spent most summers at the family camp, first at Naraka Lake and later Windy Lake where he created a welcoming environment for all. He was an avid golfer and curler and enjoyed his long outdoor walks. He was a member of the Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Ralph’s spiritual life was the core of his being. He was a very proud parishioner of Holy Redeemer Parish for over 50 years, where we will be celebrating his life on Saturday February 12, at 2p.m. Friends may call at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home Friday February 11 from 2 – 5 and 7- 9 and on Saturday after 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Social Planning Council of Sudbury Community Emergency Fund.
