CHRISTAKOS, Helen (nee Menos) - In loving memory of Helen Christakos (nee Menos) Peacefully, and surrounded by her family Friday, March 9th, 2012 at Maison Vale Hospice. Beloved wife of Socrates James Christakos predeceased December 17th, 1987. Loving mother of Christina (husband Robert Carmichael) and Michael (Chris Eibl) both of Sudbury. Special grandmother of Kelly Carmichael. Predeceased by her parents Harriet (nee Antonopolous) and George Menos. Dear sister of Ciro (wife Audrienne) of Oceanside, California and predeceased by Peter, Katherine and her husband Gerry Lamperis, Bill and his wife Frances, Michael (wife Harriett of Brookfield Wis.), Nick, Gus (wife Lillian of Appleton, Wis.), Marian and her husband Louis Sadowski. Special sister-in-law of many brothers and sisters-in-law of the Christakos family. Will be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and by her canine friends Buddy and Bailey. Helen was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She married Socrates James Christakos in 1955 in Milwaukee. Together, they came to the Sudbury area where they owned and operated Christakos Grocery Store until its closing. A devoted member of St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, she was the choir director for over 30 years and past president and charter member of the Hellenic Ladies Association. An avid Green Bay Packers fan, she also enjoyed her membership with Off the Shelf Book Club. Her family was her priority. Helen was a devoted wife and mother and very proud of her children and their accomplishments. She leaves a rich legacy of love, faith and devotion and will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Resting at the JACKSON and BARNARD FUNERAL HOME 233 Larch St. Sudbury Funeral Service at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church 486 Ester Road, Sudbury Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 at 11 A.M. Interment at Park Lawn Cemetery. Prayers at 7 p.m. Monday. Donations in memory of Helen to Maison Vale Hospice or St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church would be greatly appreciated.
