Clarke, Mary Lou (nee Harris)
The family announces with sorrow her death in Sudbury, Thursday February 15, 2024 at the age of 74 years. Daughter of the late Douglas Harris and of the late Cecilia Harris. Much loved wife of John Clarke. Dear mother of Cheryll (Kerry), Cathy (Todd), Tom (Jamie) and Johnnie. Sadly, missed and lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. Mary Lou was predeceased by her brother Tom (Terry), Michael, and by her sister Judy. Survived by her siblings, Ann (Jack), Kenny (Judy), Tricia (late Robert), Nancy (Phil), Chris, Gerri (Dan), Maureen (Roch) and Robert.
A hard working and dedicated person, she worked for Dominion stores for many years and also the United Steelworkers of America. There she grew into the leadership position of defining, protecting, upholding rights and equality for all workers. And was a pioneer for women’s rights.
In retirement, Mary Lou enjoyed spending time in her garden caring for her flowers and her birds. The VanEvery family farm on Manitoulin Island was her happy place to go and watch the cows.
She will remain in the heart of her special buddy Jasper and will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
