COOK, Darryl

November 7, 2011 31

COOK, Darryl James - In loving memory of Darryl James Cook, 31 years who passed away on Friday, November 4th, 2011 at the Health Sciences North after an inspirational one year battle with cancer. Against all odds, Darryl fought this disease with hope and courage and brought a certain strength to all those around him. Dearest husband and best friend of Karly (Knoll) Cook. Amazing Daddy to Avery and Payton. Son of Doug and Roxanne and brother to Aaron Cook of Newmarket, ON. Son-in-law to Ken and Marilyn Knoll and brother-in-law to Doug and Landa (Knoll) Koski of Sudbury. Special “uncle D“ to Logan and Annikka Koski. Also missed by many extended family members and dear friends. Darryl was born in Newmarket, ON and came to Sudbury in 1999 to attend Laurentian University. One year later, he met Karly and they were married soon after graduation. Darryl worked successfully as an Auditor at Canada Revenue Agency. He had a special love for all sports, both playing and watching. He was an executive member of the Sudbury Men's Slo-Pitch league, and an avid Buffalo Bills football fan. Darryl would never turn down a round of golf or the opportunity to watch a wrestling match. Upon moving to Sudbury, Darryl also embraced the sports of curling, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling. He spent a wonderful summer and made many lasting memories at the new family camp on Kukagami Lake. Most of all he enjoyed being a father and family man. Darryl looked forward to the day when he could pass on his love of sports to his girls. He will continue to guide and watch over them as he is now their guardian angel. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Cano and all staff at the Sudbury Regional Cancer Program and Health Sciences North. Memorial visitation at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Memorial service in the R. J. Barnard Chapel, Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 at 11:30 AM. Cremation at Park Lawn Crematorium. It was Darryl's wish that any donations be made to the Hector Sobol Memorial Bursary Fund, Laurentian University.
