CORMIER, Lionel Henry - Peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and 10 children at Finlandia Village on Monday, October 22nd, 2012. Lionel Cormier of Espanola, age 83 years. Worked at Inco in Creighton Mine for 40 years. Coming to Sudbury in 1952, Lionel was one of the premier stock car race drivers at Hurricane Speedway. Predeceased by his parents Dr. Wilfred and Corinne (nee Gallant) and brothers Hector, Arthur, Edwin (Patricia), sister Estelle (Gerry Blenkhorn) and sister-in-law Loretta. Cherished husband for 58 years of Gwen (nee Waytowich) and dearly loved father of Ron (Gerry Valentino), Don (Pierrette), Jim (Danita), Joan (Keith Landriault), Anne, Jeanne (Marc Savard) Sharon (Scott Shannon), Tom (Kevin Colbourne), Bob (Ann-Marie) and Joe (Jacinta). Beloved Poppa of Jeremy (Rae), Sarah, Rebecca, Nicholas (Kendra), Stephanie, Eric, Zachary, Jacquelyn, Gabriel, Katie, Jacob, Emma, Andrew, Sydney, Erica and Bradley, and five great-grandchildren. Dearly missed by brother Reg, sister Yvonne (Lester Stewart), sisters in law Bert, Teresa, daughter in law Cathy and many nieces, nephews, and their families. Funeral Thursday, October 25th at St. Jude Parish Espanola for Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment to follow at a later date.
