COWELL, Louise

August 25, 2010 89

COWELL, Louise (nee Bondett) - Passed away August 20, 2010 in Ottawa. Louise""s kindness and unselfish nature touched many people in her 89 years. She will be missed dearly by her brother Howard (Billy) Bondett and sister-in-law Louise Bondett, daughters Betty Meigs and Margaret Tannahill-Wade (David). She was “Nana“ to grandchildren Rachel, Steven (Dorota), Peggy (Dave), Leah and Sarah (Osmel); “Auntie Wee“ and substitute mom to many nieces, nephews; and “Liz“ to many faithful and lifelong friends and neighbours from North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, London, Elliott Lake and Toronto. Louise was predeceased by her husband Roy (in 2009), son Kenny (in 1968), brothers Vincent, Theodore, Bertram, Harold and sister, Frieda Urquhart. Many will remember Louise in Blezard Valley as the “nurse“ for all the scrapes and cuts of the neighbourhood children. She baked, cooked, knitted, and crocheted for countless church teas, bake sales and pot luck suppers. Her signature hair style bore a striking resemblance to Queen Elizabeth II. She enjoyed innumerable family gatherings and hated to miss a party! Louise maintained a personal philosophy of accepting whatever circumstances life presented to her, and her sense of humour in all situations was unwavering to the end. Louise chose the hymn “Blest Be The Tie That Binds“ to share with all of us, because it expresses her faith in life beyond the joy and pain of earthly life and the Christian values that shone through her words and actions. Memorial donations can be sent to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 326 MacKay Street, Ottawa, ON K1M 2B9 or The Hospice at May Court, 114 Cameron Ave., Ottawa, ON K1S 0X1
