On Friday February 23rd 2024 John Steven Cranston took his last snowmobile ride in a long anticipated trip to Quebec alongside loving brother-in-law Joe. John was a man who never let his life get in the way of living and he took great pleasure in helping the lives of those around him. Friends and family remember John as someone who you could always call if you needed a hand, and someone you could rely on when you needed support. He proudly dedicated 34 years of his life to the Ford Motor Company, where he was known as the guy who could fix anything.

John loved working with his hands. He could often be found with motor oil up to his elbows and drywall dust on his shoulders. When he retired, he pursued that with a greater passion. When he wasn’t building things, he was building his family. He is remembered and loved deeply by his three children and their families, Elizabeth and Everett, Emily and Liam, and John William and Maggie, and he is fiercely missed by his wife, Lisa. Elizabeth and her partner Everett recently made John a grandfather, and John was delighted to welcome Charlie John Bona into the world late last year. John is also survived by his dog Toby, who provided John with many opportunities to replace his slippers.

Lisa Cranston was more than John’s wife. She was his best friend, and greatest supporter for more than 40 years. They were always a team, working together at each other’s side.  Their whole lives have been underscored by a deep love for each other. The love he had for his family was rivaled only by his love for cars. His proudest projects were his restorations of his ’67 and ’69 Mustangs.

There will be a celebration of John’s life that will take place at the home of Lisa and John’s lifelong friends Randy and Tina Tolsma, on Saturday March 2 at 2359 Old Hwy 69N, Val Caron from 12 to 4 pm. In honor of John’s preferred attire, please wear your favorite hoodie.
