DENNISTON, Dr Robert

September 15, 2010

DENNISTON, Dr Robert W - It is with regret that the family of Dr. Robert (Bob) W. Denniston announces his passing on Monday, September 13th. He fought a short, but courageous battle with cancer and left the world peacefully with family at his side. Known by many as Dr. Bob, he graduated from the University of Western Ontario""s dental program in 1979 and returned to the north to set up a dental practice in New Sudbury. He sold the practice in 2004 and retired between a cottage on Manitoulin Island and a trawler in the Caribbean. An avid and accomplished boater, Bob attained his U.S. Captain""s papers in 2006 and was most content on the water. More recently, Bob was asked to join the faculty of the Northern Ontario Medical School as a lecturer in the medical program, and was thrilled at the prospect of joining such a wonderful organization. He will be sadly missed by wife Mardi-Ann, children Jennifer, Jeffrey (fiancée Tanya Mozek), and Timothy (Nina MacLelland), mother Therese (father Walter predeceased), and brother Paul (family Diane, Scott, and Andrew), as well as many close friends. A special thank you to the friends who are like family, Dr. Pablo Cano, and the staff on 4 North for all of your love and support during this difficult time. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Friday, September 17th, 2010 at 1pm. Interment in the Civic Cemetery. Donations to Strachan- Hartley Legacy Foundation (Tides Canada) or the R.W. Denniston Scholarship Fund, NOSM, Laurentian Foundation would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9pm Thursday or after 12 noon Friday.) To light a memorial candle, flowers, donations or messages of condolences available on-line at www.lougheed.org.
