DESBIENS, JOAN

DESBIENS, JOAN - Born August 29, 1922 in Darlington, England. Joan passed away peacefully April 20, 2011 at the Kelowna General Hospital, in her 89th year. Joan immigrated to Canada as a war bride in 1946. She lived in Ontario for many years and worked at Levine's Ladies Wear in Sudbury, Ontario for over 40 years. After she 'retired' at age 70, she and Dad moved to Kelowna in 1992. Predeceased by her husband Phil who worked for INCO at Creighton Mine near Lively, Ontario, survived by her children Margaret Orton (Rick) of Kelowna, BC, Denise Frattini (Jim) Sudbury, Ontario and Paul (Mary-Joe) of Coquitlam, BC. Fondly remembered by her six grandchildren Paulo (Michelle), Sabrina Grossi (Gianni) and Tony (Amy) and Mathew, Ashleigh and Alissa Desbiens. Joan also has six great-grandchildren, Bronti and Alex Frattini, Massimo and Gianna Grossi, and Nico and Matteo Frattini. A Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 839 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna, BC, on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:00 am, with Father Peter Tompkins officiating.
