Desforges, Gerald (1947-2022)

It is with heavy hearts that the children of Diane and Gerald Sr. announce the passing of both their MOM and DAD. Diane passed on Sept. 18th/2022, at the age of 68, following a courageous battle with cancer. Gerald Sr. passed away suddenly on Sept. 19th/2022, at the age of 74, shortly after his ‘Sweetheart’ Diane. Diane and Gerald Sr. are survived by their Loving children Percy, Gerald (Megan), Alex (Jenn) and Lisa. Beloved grandparents of Katya “Katy”, Austin, Brooke (Jakob), Adrien (Brittney), Christopher (Jessica), Kristin, Kayla and Owen. Cherished great-grandparents of Alexis, Kaydence, Karson, Joseph, Mason, Grayson and Jaylan. Adored by God-children Gisele, Micheal and Roger. Diane and Gerald will be missed by siblings on both the Desforges and Robillard families. Diane Rose (Robillard) Desforges (AKA: Gerry’s Sweetheart), lived her life with a solid strength of character and was a force to be reckoned with. She exuded strength not just in her opinions and beliefs, she carried with her an empowering loyalty that was genuinely admired through her fierce presence. Her children were her prise possessions, her strength also exuded with the bond between her and her sons, her daughter was always her precious pageant queen. Her strength as a mother carried on in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Diane was admired by many nieces and nephews, loved and known for being the ‘tell it as it is ma tante’, with honesty and integrity. Diane’s cooking and baking was always requested and enjoyed at family events and celebrations. Gerald Joseph Francis Desforges (AKA: Diane’s Best Friend), as a dad, Gerald Sr. took care of his family by any means necessary, he was a good provider. He loved his sons with a soft heart and sternness, he loved his precious Lisa, his only daughter. He was pepere to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Uncle Gerry was a favourite to many nieces and nephews. Uncle Gerry was never shy in sharing his “I Love you” and in giving hugs. He was rough around the edges but knew how to Love and Love hard with a genuine heart of gold. Everyone, family or friend would feel important to Gerald Sr. after being in his presence. A funeral Mass to honour both Diane and Gerald Sr. will be held Saturday, October 1st/2022 at 11am, in Saint Anne Des Pins Church, Sudbury. A reception will follow in the church hall. The children of Diane and Gerald would like to request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Maison McCulloch Hospice in Sudbury, https://maisonsudbury.org/donate.
