DESFORGES, Edgar Octave - (1932- 2012) - It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing in Sudbury, on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the age of 79 years. Husband of the late Claire (née Ménard) DesForges. Son of the late Donat and the late Jeanne (née Larocque) DesForges. Loving father of Normand (Pierrette) of Ottawa, Ronald (Barb), Jeannette Labelle (Chuck), Denis (Colette) and Lise Freeland (Ray) all of Capreol and Michelle Ockenden (James) of Hanmer. Loving Pé-père to Lori, Rick, Nicole, Linda, Ricky, Amy, Danielle, Denis Jr., Renée, Tori, Joanne, Damien, Adrien, Jillian, Kyle, Logan, Jasmine and to 17 great- grandchildren. Edgar is also survived by his sisters Thérèse Ouellette (late Delphis) of Acton and Laurence Riehl (Ron) of Capreol. Predeceased by his sister Lucienne Foucault (late Leo) and his brothers Emile “Jed“ (Dorita of Capreol) and Roland. Edgar also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He will be remembered for his whistling, his jokes, his hand carved baseball bats with ball carved inside, the cast iron names he made for fireplace mantels, his beautiful horse drawings, his detailed sign painting and many other licensed skills/trades he possessed. Dad would enjoy picking blueberries with his brother Emile, and sisters Laurence and Thérèse. A patient, unselfish, kind hearted, loving man who's family always came first and who gave everything to everyone. He was so proud of his family and of having been married for 55 years to the love of his life to whom he was devoted to and longed to be reunited with. He will be sadly missed. . . but we know there are loved ones, including his beloved wife Claire (Mom), his siblings and his parents on the other side, waiting to welcome him. Edgar was a mechanic with Canadian National Railway for 26 years and with National Steel for 18 years. He was also member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5005, Hanmer and Council 3866, Capreol. The family will receive friends and relatives at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4570 St-Joseph St., Hanmer on Wednesday, July 25th 2012 from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. on Thursday in Our Lady of Peace Church, Capreol. Donations (by cheque only) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Northern Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
