DESMARAIS, Richard - The family announces with sorrow, his death at his residence, Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the age of 58 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late Hervé and Blanche (née Carette) Desmarais. Beloved husband of Lise Desmarais (née Vaillancourt) of Val Caron. Loving father of Nathalie (Tim McDermott) of Newtonville, Luc (Robyn Baronnette) of Val Caron and Mélanie (Darcy Seaton) of Sudbury. Dear brother of Fernand Desmarais (Margo Lanteigne) of Sudbury and Denise (Roland Dubreuil) of Val Caron. Predeceased by his sister Micheline Maillet (late Raymond) and his brothers Gaëtan (Peggy of Little Current) and baby Reynald. Lovingly adored and sadly missed by his granddaughters, Charlize and Keilenna McDermott. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The focus of Richard's life was his precious family. He was an avid golfer, curler and hunter who also enjoyed performing Karaoke. Richard was a proud member of the Firefighter's Choir. The family will receive relatives and friends at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E. (at Notre-Dame), Sudbury, Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday September 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Ste- Marguerite d'Youville Church, Val Thérèse.
