ELLIS (Nee SEARSON), Monica - March 1930 - February 2011 - Sadly the family of Monica Ellis announce her death on Wednesday, February 23 2011 at Renfrew Hospice. Formerly of Azilda, Ontario, she devoted her life to teaching English, first at the elementary school level, then to high school and college students and in her retirement to students in Turkey and Poland. Students from Chelmsford Valley District Composite School remember Monica fondly both as a teacher and as a friend. She is remembered by her colleagues for her dedication to teaching and her sense of humour. Monica was predeceased by her husband William and her siblings Mary Francis, Tom and Margaret. She is survived by her sister Noreen Searson, children Cathy (Kerry) Beauchamp, Shannon (Robert) Brown, Robert (Roslyn), William (Rhonda), Joseph and Elizabeth, twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Marion Searson and her three children. She leaves to mourn her passing her long time friend and special member of the family Tom O'Gorman. A celebration of Monica's life was held on Saturday, February 26th. At her request no other arrangements will be made. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Renfrew Hospice, 459 Albert Street, Renfrew, ON. K7B 1B8. We will miss our mom but know that she died under the best of circumstances and went willingly and peacefully.
