EVERSHED, Lorraine F. (née Montgomery) - It is with great sorrow that the family announces her passing in Sudbury on Saturday, November 5th, 2011 at the age of 87 years. Daughter of the late Claude Montgomery and late Lea Hines (née Gervais) and stepdaughter of the late Clarence Hines. Wife of the late William “Ted“ Evershed predeceased in 1991. Loving mother of Morris Evershed (Dianne) of Wahnapitae, Donald Evershed (Liisa) of Cambridge, Kenneth Evershed (Dee) of Kingston, Lorrie Evershed of Sudbury, Micheal Evershed (Jane) of Newmarket and Larry Paquin (Irma) of Brantford. Predeceased by her son Douglas Evershed in 1967. Dear sister of Donald Montgomery (Marg), Eleen Leclair (late Horace) and Janie Barbeau (late Philip). Predeceased by her brothers Ben Hines (survived by Anne), Lyle Montgomery (late Mildred), Russ Montgomery (survived by Liz) and Morris Montgomery (late Gloria). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended families and friends. She was a kind and compassionate soul who will be remembered for having been a strong advocate for those in need and for having established the Lorraine Evershed Bursary which is remitted annually to a Cambrian College student. She worked and dedicated her entire life to the Valley Association and was also a member of the Board of Directors. The Evershed House was named in honour of Lorraine's selfless devotion to the cause of the Association. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the angels on the 5th floor South wing of the Sudbury Regional Hospital for the kind and compassionate care given to Mom, especially to doctors Metha, Merotto and Charette. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691 R.R. 15, Chelmsford, Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 10th, 2011 at 11 a.m in the Funeral Home Chapel, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque only) to L'Arche Sudbury would be greatly appreciated.
