November 25, 1930 – February 3, 2022
After a brief illness, Tom, husband, father and grandfather, has finished his journey in this life.
A quiet man, who kept to himself, he was known to some as “Mr. Hydro”. He always felt a great responsibility during his working years, to keep people safe and warm in their homes while he climbed poles in inclement weather to re-store their hydro. He worked for Ontario Hydro first, but spent the majority of his career at Sudbury Hydro, retiring, as Superintendent of Operations. He took great pride in his work to the point that fun night with Dad was taking his family for a ride to view the hydro substations before going to the Dairy Queen .
He was a man who loved quietly reflecting while fishing or feeding wild animals at his camp. He loved to tinker and worked on projects in his home and his camp for all of his life.
Tom had a lovely singing voice. He often received requests to sing at weddings. But his favorite and most requested song was “Danny Boy”, harking back to his Celtic roots. We can now hear the the echo of his his soft, tenor voice singing this song, as we now mourn his loss.
To grieve his passing is Tom's clan - wife, Jackie of 72 years, children, Karen, Tom (Margit), Bruce (pre-deceased), Neil, Tracey (David), grand children Shawna, Kyle and his last surviving sibling, Ann.
There will be no visitation.
