FAHNER, Glenn William

December 30, 2011 78

FAHNER, Glenn William - In Loving Memory of Glenn William Fahner (“Fonzie“, “Fearless“) 78 Years. His daughters announce, with great sadness, the passing of Glenn William Fahner (“Fonzie“, “Fearless“). Dearest husband of Sheila Mary (Ennis) (predeceased 2008). Beloved father of Kim and Stacy. Dear friend to his canine companions, Gully and Sable. Dear brother in law of Michael Ennis (Joanne), Terry Ennis predeceased (Rosalind), Peter Ennis predeceased (Gail) and Cathy Tihanyi (Jeno predeceased). Special nephew of Clare Kelly. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews. Glenn worked at INCO in the Copper Refinery until 1978, leaving there to start Laurentian Trophies. Following that, he purchased Cedar Gift Shop, and later managed the Sudbury Curling Club. He also spent time working for Labatt's Brewery and was a proud long-term member of the Sudbury ACT club. After retiring, he and Sheila Mary loved traveling together, especially to Michigan and the Caribbean. Glenn loved fishing, gardening, curling, singing, spending time at the family camp on the West Arm of Lake Nipissing, telling stories, and making people laugh. He enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash and Stompin' Tom Connors, as well as singing Irish songs. A spirited person, he was well known for his role of playing Santa for many generations of Sudbury children. He had a contagious and quick sense of humour and was the life of any party. Glenn was especially fond of spending time with his Monday Night Football crew at Shaughnessy's. He will be especially missed by his dear friends, Ted Winter, Rod McHugh and Ken Naples. Kim and Stacy would like to thank the staff of Pioneer Manor (Poplar) and the nurses of 6 South (Respiratory) at the hospital. Sincere and special thanks are given to the Palliative Care Team on 4 North for taking such excellent physical and spiritual care of Glenn over the past two months. Your kindness to our father in his final days was uplifting, compassionate, and transformative. “ . . . when he shall die,/Take him out and cut him out in little stars,/And he will make the face of heaven as fine/That all the world will be in love with night/And pay no worship to the garish sun.“ (Shakespeare) Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel Monday, January 2nd, 2012 at 1pm. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium.
