FAIELLA ROQUE, Cristina - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cristina Faiella Roque, age 29, March 5, 2012 at the Ottawa General Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Loving daughter of Joaquim (Joe) and Fran, loving sister of Julian and Adriana Roque, loving girlfriend of Glen Frank of Chetwynd, B.C. Will be sadly missed by her Uncles and Aunts, Carlo Faiella (Diane), Anna Day (Ray) of Brampton, Rocco Faiella (Charlene), Patt Faiella (Mavi) and Antonio Roque G. Dias (Dina) of Lisbon, Portugal, special cousin to Isabel (Peter) Gomes Szoke of Richmond Hill, and many cousins and extended family. Predeceased by her grandparents Giuseppe & Vittoria Faiella, and Antonio & Maria Dias, and her Uncle Nick Faiella (Mariella). Cristina was a graduate of Marymount College and Laurentian University, she went on to obtain her Bachelor of Education Degree from University of Ottawa and taught for Rainbow District School Board, and then moved west to teach French Immersion at Don Titus Elementary School in Chetwynd, B.C. Her passion for teaching impacted the lives of every student she encountered. As early as the age of two, Cristina's passion for Rhythmic Gymnastics developed. She spent most of her free time with Sampo Rhythmic Gymnastics as a recreational gymnast, competitive gymnast, and then Competitive Coach inspiring her young girls to succeed. She was able to travel to Europe twice with her Club and be a part of World Gymnastradas in both Sweden and Lisbon Portugal. We would like to extend our thanks to the Bone Marrow Transplant team at the Ottawa General Hospital, the nursing staff of 5 West along with Dr. Lopez and all the staff and volunteers at the Northern Cancer Centre. Cristina was much loved and her passing has left a great void in so many hearts and communities. We can all easily say that Cristina was the most incredible person to ever enter our lives. We hope you always remember the ways in which she changed your life and her passion will forever be an inspiration to us all. A celebration of Cristina's life will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1250 Barrydowne Road, Sudbury at 10 am on Friday March 9th, 2012. Visitation will be held in the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Thursday March 8th, 2012 from 3-9pm. Parish prayers 3:30pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations to her memory can be made to the Northern Cancer Foundation and the Little Angels Blood Cancer Fund through the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
