FINLAYSON, Alastair - Peacefully at Highview Residences, with family at his side, on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, Alastair Donald Finlayson, P.Eng. of London and formerly of Mississauga and Sudbury in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of 66 years of Leota Winnifred, nee Mavety. Cherished father of Margaret Ann McGinn and her husband Paul of St. Catharines, Catherine Finlayson and her husband James MacNeill, Mary Harasym and her husband Aleck all of London and John Finlayson and his partner Barbara Nitsch of Wellington, Florida. Proud grandfather of Wesley, Gordon, Jennifer, Heather, Adriane, David, Patrick, Laura, Anne-Marie, Noelle and Sarah and great grandfather of Lucy and Nolan. Dear son of the late Duncan and Jean Finlayson of Copper Cliff. Brother-in-law of Mary Finlayson of Sudbury. Brother of the late Malcolm and Tom and his wife Bella Finlayson. Alastair served as a Lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Engineers in WWII, returning in 1946. He married Wynne that same year and commenced a successful career as a professional engineer, traveling world-wide for INCO. Alastair was a graduate of Mount Allison University and University of Toronto. A private family service was conducted at the JAMES A. HARRIS FUNERAL HOME, London, on Friday, February 24 by Rev. David R. Carrothers. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged.
