FLYNN, Sonya Victoria

It is with great sorrow that the family announces her passing in Sudbury on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in her 83rd year.

Mother to son’s Doug Tunney, Randy Tunney (wife Nancy), Thomas Tunney (deceased), James Tunney, Robert Tunney (spouse Natasha), and daughter Vickey Cross (husband Ken). Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Born in Minnow Lake area of Sudbury, growing up she loved to play broomball and was an all-star in track and field.  While raising her family in Copper Cliff she was very involved with the Boy Scouts. Her love for the outdoors brought her lots of happiness spending time fishing at the family cottage on the West Arm in St. Charles and sitting around the campfire with her family and friends. She found a passion raising Bassett Hounds at her kennel “Wrinkle Socks Kennels” and showing them throughout Ontario. In retirement, she volunteered for the Aurey Township Fire Department and became a counselor and later the Mayor of the Township of Markstay-Warren where she thrived to make a better community. Many summers were spent enjoying long walks in the bush picking blueberries.
