FRANCIS, Susan Lois (nee Laakso) - In loving memory of Susan Lois (nee Laakso) Francis, 60 years. After a brave but short battle with cancer, she passed peacefully Thursday, May 5th, 2011 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital with her loving family at her side. Dear partner of Rick Turgeon of Azilda. Loving mother of Christina Skrypchuk (Sean), Michael Gratton (Jenn), and Douglas Gratton. Cherished grandmother of Emma, Hannah and Katie. Dear daughter of Lois Laakso and the late Esko Laakso predeceased. Dear sister of Karen Wood (Earl), Nancy Trottier (Jack), Allan (Elaine), Gary (Diane), Linda Siemer (Mark), Donna Boutet (Ron) and Shelley Laakso. Will be sadly missed by her 16 nieces and nephews, 3 great nieces and nephews and canine companion Snowball. Born and raised in Azilda, Susan was the eldest of eight children. She enjoyed cooking as was reflected in her catering business Bon Appetit. She worked at Bell Canada for 17 years in the Administration Department. She enjoyed spending time at family gatherings at Hannah Lake and later Onaping Lake. Susan's spirit and humour will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Funeral service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel Sunday, May 8th, 2011 at 11 AM. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Chelmsford Cemetery. Memorial donations to the SPCA or the Regional Cancer Program would be appreciated.
