In loving memory of Maria Frattaruolo (nee Piemontese) who passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Wednesday, January 31st at the age of 91. She is reunited now with the love her life of 69 years Stefano Frattaruolo predeceased in 2002.

Loving mother of Michelina Taillefer (Michael predeceased) of Sudbury and Mike (Penny) of New York.

Predeceased by her parents Pietro and Concetta Piemontese (nee Rinaldi). Maria was the oldest of three sisters and two brothers; Lucia (Ermano predeceased), Rosalia (Raffaele predeceased) of Italy and Antonietta (Pompei), Gino (Annie) of France, and Franco (Anna) of Vancouver.

Amazing Nonna to Serena (Scott Bangs) of Sauble Beach, Julia and Michale Frattaruolo of Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Nick Taillefer (Shanley) of Sudbury. Special Bisnonna to Jayden and Elio, and Zia to many nieces and nephews from Italy and France.

Maria immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1955 and lived in Sultan until 1979 while Stefano worked for the CP Rail. Once Stefano retired, they moved to Sudbury where they would spend the rest of their life together.

Maria was one of a kind, always looking out for everyone. As most Italian Nonnas do, she made sure everyone left her home with a full stomach and a to go plate. She kept her garden full of fresh vegetables, and always had the prettiest of flowers surrounding her house.

Special thank you to the staff at St Joseph’s Villa who cared for her in her remaining days.
