GASTEIGER, Emilie - 1913-2013 After a full and happy life of 100 years, Emilie passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22nd in Sudbury, Ontario. Predeceased in 1999 by her dear husband Ludwig and beloved son Hans, she will be sadly missed by her son Will, daughters-in-law Kaija and Ele, grandsons Martin, Devin (Kristi), Jesse (Christine), Luke (Deborah) and Tyler, great-grandchildren Perry, Maglyn, Brooklyn and Jett. Emilie also had a very special bond with her niece Matilda. Born in Germany, Emilie came to Canada as a teenager, living several years on her family's homestead in Saskatchewan. After marrying, Ludwig and Emilie travelled to and worked in various new mining towns before settling in Timmins. Emilie had many fond memories of her over 60 years in Timmins – friends, neighbours, swimming in Gillies Lake, skiing at the Porcupine Ski Runners. After moving to Sudbury with Kaija and Will, she lived happily for over 11 years at the Walford Retirement Residence and spent the last 3 months at St. Joseph's Villa. The family would like to thank the Villa staff for their compassionate care and particularly for the wonderful 100th birthday party recently held in Emilie's honour. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral services. If desired, remembrance can be made to the CNIB. Funeral arrangements are in the care of LESSARD- STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME.
