Cecile was born on March 27 of 1953. Her parents, Lionel and Rita Roy (Yasko), both predeceased, would later bring into the world four more children; Anne Marie, Gerard (Nicole), Richard, and Daniel (Meredith and niece Katie). Cecile also has half-sisters: Wanda, Pat, Cathy, and Brenda Crites. In 1973, Cecile had a son, her only child, Fern Bolduc. But her big heart had room for more, and she became the beloved stepmother to Shannon Marko (Gibson) and Sheri Craig (Gibson) in 1984.

Cecile was charmingly silly, and well known for her full-face squints. She was fair, and just, a straightforward and outspoken woman. Perhaps her most well-known feature to all was her stubbornness - but endearing in one who never sweat the small stuff, was incredibly easy going, and fundamentally, a nice person. With her strong sense of justice and big heart, Cecile completed additional schooling later in life, to pursue over 20 years in a career with the Genevra House of Sudbury. She was well loved there; friendly, kind, helpful, and the type of person to roll up her sleeves and get stuff done.

Cecile could rock an outfit like nobody’s business, but all knew she was at home and happiest in the biggest of t-shirts. Rocking an old t-shirt, snuggled up with something true crime or paranormal, with her cat on one side, her dog on the other, perhaps with a bowl of pasta or chocolate covered cherries, is where Cecile liked to indulge best. Unless we are talking about her grandchild, Mercedes Bolduc Santerre, born to Fern and Jennifer Santerre in 2015. She was the absolute joy of Cecile’s life. She loved being a grandmother to Mercedes, and cared for her frequently during her younger years, bringing her to local Best Start Hubs, where she reconnected with her stepdaughter Shannon, and played a familial role to her two children as well.

In keeping with Cecile’s wishes there will be a Celebration of Life this summer. There will be no service or visitation, but we welcome you to donate to Pet Save or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in honour of her passing.
