GILBERT, Doreen Bessie (Skelton) - In loving memory of Doreen Bessie (Skelton) Gilbert 91 years Thursday, November 22nd, 2012 at the Elizabeth Centre, Val Caron. Beloved wife of Morley Gilbert of Sudbury. Loving mother of Richard (Kathie) of Nova Scotia, Greg (Wendy) of Peterborough, Chris (Pamela), Terry (Rae-Ellen) and Dean (Colette) all of Sudbury and Andrea (Jean Pierre Lebel) of Hanmer. Cherished grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Dear daughter of Hubert and Almina Skelton both predeceased. Dear sister of Joan and Pat both predeceased. Born in Midland, where she married Morley in 1944, Doreen worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, serving at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital and Pioneer Manor. She was a member of Canadian Power and Sail Squadron. She was a wonderful cook, especially her pie and cookies. Doreen took pride in her appearance and was always elegantly dressed. Family was the centerpiece of her life, her grandchildren came first and she will lovingly be remembered as the best mother and mother in law in the world. Funeral Visitation in the JACKSON and BARNARD FUNERAL HOME 233 Larch St., Sudbury Monday, November 26th, 2012 from 2pm, ending with a short service of prayer at 8pm. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the NCF Cancer Center would be appreciated.
