GILKS, Harry

April 25, 2012 81

GILKS, Harry Neven - On Friday April 20, 2012 at the age of 81, Harry Neven Gilks passed away at the Maison Vale Hospice in Sudbury surrounded by family and friends. Husband of Irene Gilks (nee Leduc) of 52 years. Loved father of Larry (Charmaine) and Terry (Sara). Loving grandfather to Victoria, Mackenzie, Gerrie and Reiss. Dear brother-in-law to many Joan Leduc, Jack and Helen Leduc, Shirley Swinson (nee Leduc), Clarence and Linda Leduc. Loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Born March 11, 1931 in New Brunswick, Harry was raised as foster child by the Hallett family from age 7 to 14. The McIntosh's then became his family from age 14 to 18. Harry remained in contact with these families after moving to Ontario in 1957. Then recently (2010) Harry was united with his Gilks' family in New Brunswick. As a hard working man, Harry was always keeping himself busy. He spent his time Mon to Fri in the car business with Sudbury Motors and Cambrian Ford until his retirement at age 65. Harry loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and collecting wood and scrap. Harry was well renowned for his ability to appreciate a good pie and a pail of ice cream. Harry appreciated historical items and could often be found collecting what many people would think of as scrap to find hidden treasures. With the love of country music Harry shared a good song and story with everyone he met. His laughter and “toothless“ smile will be truly missed. A celebration of Harry's life will be at the Alban Community Centre, Hwy 64, Alban on Saturday May 5th, 2012 from 11am. to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison Vale Hospice, 1028 South Bay Road, Sudbury, Ontario 705-674-3252 would be greatly appreciated http://maisonsudburyhospice.org. Arrangements entrusted to the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME. To light a memorial candle, flowers, donations or messages of condolences available on-line at www.lougheed.org
