GIROUX, John Alexander - In loving memory of John Alexander Giroux 89 years Friday, May 27th, 2011 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital. Gone to be with his sweetheart, Evelyn Giroux (predeceased February 3rd, 2011). Survived by children Ted (Nancy), John (Alice), Mary Lou (John predeceased), Peter (Michel) and Theresa (predeceased); sisters Leah Way and Madeleine Reid; brothers Joseph and Peter Giroux, sisters Laura (Baker) Johnson, Irene Blake, Jean Parker, Julia Thompson (all predeceased). Also survived by grandchildren Brian (Lori), Chris (Faye), John, Kimberly Ann (Ryan) and Troy; step-grandchildren Lana (Dan), Lonnie (Jacquie) and great grandchildren Melissa, Kayleigh, MacKenzie, Autumn and Hunter and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Peter and Teresa (McDonald) Giroux. Born in Sudbury, attended Sheridan Tech. Served in the Canadian Navy during W.W. II as a sailor on a merchant marine ship helping to guard our ships and troops during Atlantic crossings. He was stationed out of Halifax where he met Evelyn. He drove bus for Sudbury Bus Lines, worked at Murray Mine (Falconbridge), as hoist man and in 1961 he relocated to the Brockville area working as a Stationery Engineer for Hershey Chocolates before starting his own business. He operated Beaver Well Drilling until he retired about 1990. Belonged to the Lion's Club and won a seat on town council. Enjoyed his retirement spending part of every year as a snow bird. We only just begun to know you dad, and you will be sadly missed by your family and friends. Resting at the JACKSON and BARNARD FUNERAL HOME 233 Larch St., Sudbury Funeral prayers in the R. J. Barnard Chapel Tuesday, May 31st, 2011 at 10 AM. Cremation at Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
