Calvin Dale Harper, age 76, of Evansville, Ontario died in the evening of January 15, 2024. Dale was born and lived most of his life near Evansville on Manitoulin Island. Through his sister Edith, he met his love, Nancy (nee Hayden) and married in 1969. Dale and Nancy had two daughters: a source of great pride for both parents. Dale worked for many years with Manitoulin Transport and later with Transpro in various logistics and trucking roles. Later, he worked local construction and at the LaFarge quarry in Meldrum Bay before retiring.

Dale enjoyed tinkering in his garage with his many tractors or ‘just going for a drive’ always with his little puppy sidekick, Abby. He was very proud of his only grandson, Colton, and relished in sharing ‘country experiences’ with him on visits. Dale loved a good coffee chat and sharing stories and laughs. His booming laugh was recognizable in any gathering big or small. He was a man with a big, generous heart who cared deeply about his family and friends. He will be missed by many.

Dale was the youngest child and only son of William and Ella Harper. He is survived by his sisters Edith (Clark) of Manitowaning and Merle (Harper-Haaksman) of Thessalon and predeceased by his sisters Lenora (Gardiner) and Wilda (Montgomery). He was loved and cherished by all his extended family of Harpers and Haydens. His wife Nancy passed in 2019 after her own battle with cancer. His children, Leslie (Harper-Reid) (husband Kevin Reid) of Windsor and Tracy (Draper) (husband Michael and son Colton) of Edmonton, would like to thank everyone who sent condolences and support after Dale’s passing.

A celebration of life will be held at the Burpee Mills Cemetery on May 17th at 1pm.
