HIRSIMAKI, Viola Inkeri - It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we announce the passing of Irma Viola Inkeri Hirsimaki (Kankaanpaa) at the age of 74 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving wife of Leevi for 53 years. Cherished mother of Harry of Sudbury and Heidi of Montreal. Adored and adoring Mummu of Kayley and Wesley Lankinen of Montreal, and Teagan Hirsimaki of Sudbury. Lovingly remembered by her sisters, Maire (Vaino) Ylitalo of Sudbury and Kaisu (Esa) Kivist of Finland. Predeceased by her parents Martta and Juho and sister Meimi Kivikoski. She will be sadly missed by all her cousins, nieces and nephews and sister and brothers-in-law in Canada, United States, Finland and Australia. Born in Kauhava, Finland, she came to Sudbury in 1958. She was a kind a gentle soul, a wonderful homemaker, an avid reader, loved dancing, cross country skiing, gardening and enjoyed going for her daily walks. To our wonderful friends, family and neighbours here in Sudbury and Montreal, a deep sense of gratitude for all your unending support during this difficult time. At Irma's request, there will be no visitation or service. Private family committal will take place at the Civic Memorial Cemetery on Monday, July 23rd, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mathew's Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME.
