HOULE, Daniel - Daniel Houle nous a quittés le 30 septembre 2010 à l""âge de 52 ans. Il est décédé paisiblement, entouré de sa famille, après une courageuse lutte contre le cancer. Fils de Jeannine (Lefebvre) et feu Fernand Houle, il laisse dans le deuil sa partenaire de vie, France Bélanger-Houle et ses enfants Mathieu et Alexie (fiancé Kevin Gagnon). Lui survivent également ses frères Jean-Pierre (Margot Landry), Marcel (Tracey), sa soeur Michelle Romain (Jacques), sa belle-mère Laura Bélanger (feu Gabi), ses belles-soeurs Lynne Bélanger, Louise Leroux (Luc), Josée Bélanger-Leroux (Michel), ses trois filleules Dominique, Sophie, Britany ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, tantes et oncles. Diplmé du programme de Hautes études en loisirs du Collège Algonquin, Daniel a oeuvré pour plus de 25 ans à titre de thérapeute en loisirs au sein de l""Hpital régional de Sudbury. Durant sa carrière, il a ctoyé de nombreux collègues et d""innombrables patients, qui garderont de bons souvenirs de lui. Daniel a été un grand amateur de sports et un entraneur auprès de plusieurs équipes de hockey, ringuette, soccer et ballon-panier; il a également participé à l""organisation de plusieurs tournois de hockey. Amateur inconditionnel du Canadien de Montréal, il a eu le plaisir de voir plusieurs matchs de son équipe préférée au Centre Bell et de participer à la Cérémonie de remise de trophées de la Ligue nationale de hockey. Il était aussi un amateur de pêche et à tous les ans entreprenait un voyage de pêche à la Mezquez dans le nord du Québec avec ses partenaires Barry, Luc, Michel, Armand et son fils Mathieu. Daniel était également membre du Club Richelieu de la Vallée, dont il a été le président, et il avait récemment reçu le Prix du Président pour son engagement auprès de la communauté francophone. On se souviendra de Daniel comme un homme au service des autres, un excellent mari et père, un homme de foi, un bon vivant. La famille tient à remercier le Dr. Michel Bonin, Dr. Bora et le personnel de l""Hpital régional de Sudbury. La famille recevra parents et amis à la COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE, 4691, R R 15, CHELMSFORD, le mardi 5 octobre de 14h à 17h et de 19h à 21 h. La messe funéraire sera célébrée le mercredi 6 octobre 2010 à 11 h en l""église St-Joseph, Chelmsford. HOULE, Daniel - The family announces with sorrow the death of Daniel Houle on September 30th, 2010 at the age of 52. He died peacefully surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Cherished son of Jeannine (Lefebvre) and Fernand Houle (predeceased), he is survived by his life partner, France Bélanger-Houle and his children Mathieu and Alexie (fiancé, Kevin Gagnon). He also leaves behind his brothers Jean-Pierre (Margot Landry), Marcel (Tracey), his sister Michelle Romain (Jacques), his mother-in- law Laura Bélanger (late Gabe), his sisters- in-law Lynne Bélanger, Louise Leroux (Luc), Josée Bélanger-Leroux (Michel), his goddaughters Dominique, Sophie, Britany and many nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. A graduate from Leisure studies at Algonquin College, Dan had worked for over 25 years as a Recreation therapist at the Sudbury Regional Hospital. During his career at the Hospital, he had the pleasure of working alongside numerous colleagues and patients who will remember him as a caring advocate for long-term care patients. Dan was an avid athlete and coach to many hockey, ringette, soccer and basket ball teams. He was an unconditional fan of the Montréal Canadiens and attended numerous games at the Bell Centre as well as the NHL Hockey Awards. He was also a great fisherman and enjoyed his yearly expedition to the Mezquez River in Northern Québec with his fishing buddies Barry, Luc, Michel, Armand and his son Mathieu. He was an active member of the Club Richelieu de la Vallée, and a past president; he was recently honoured with an award from the International president of the Richelieu for his commitment to the francophone community. We will remember Dan as a caring individual who gave of himself, a loving husband and father, a man of faith, and a lover of life. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who supported him throughout his illness, in particular Dr. Michel Bonin and Dr. Bish Bora. The family will receive friends at the COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE, 4691 R R 15 Chelmsford, Tuesday, October 5th from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in St-Joseph Church, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made (by cheque only) to St-Joseph""s Foundation (St- Gabriel Villa).
