HUGHSON, Vera Elnora (née Monkhouse) - Passed away February 6th, 2011 at Manitoulin Centennial Manor, Little Current, in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Norman Hughson. Loving daughter of the late Robert and Frances Monkhouse. Dear sister of Hannah McCauley (husband Alex), Emily Purdy (husband Seymour), Florence Smith (husband Chester), William Monkhouse (wife Gertrude), all predeceased. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, many of whom live on Manitoulin Island. Vera and her husband Norman operated a tourist business for many years. They enjoyed working in their gardens, growing and selling vegetables, raspberries and strawberries. Anyone visiting their home will remember the flowers that seemed to spring up between rocks such a beautiful picture, and great memories. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 from 10:30am, with the funeral service being held at 11:30am, at Knox United Church, Manitowaning. Interment in the Hilly Grove Cemetery.
