Irvin Gary Chandler (1940-2024)
It is with great sadness that the family announces his passing on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, at the age of 83 years.
Son of the late John Chandler and of the late Roberta (née Grover). Loving husband of Suzanne. Predeceased by his wife Penny. Dear father of Karyn, Meredith (Lawrence), Robert (Misty), Jason (Sarah), Jordan (Tracy), Kyle (Meagan), Olivia, and Jonathan (Melissa). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kaylyn, Harrison, Meranda, Chandler, Keegan, Cole, Brooke, Aiden, Nolan, Ceiledh, Madyn, Jacob, Amanda and Ryan (BAA). Gary will also be missed by his great-grandchildren McKenna and Harper.
Gary is survived by his brother Robert (Jeanne). Predeceased by his brother Brian (Sandee). He will be missed by numerous nephews, nieces, and their families.
Gary was born and raised in Chatham, ON. He came to Manitoulin Island at a young age to start his teaching career. He will be missed by former staff and students at Manitoulin Secondary School. A devoted Gideon, avid gardener, and farmer. He enjoyed time spent with family and he is remembered as a kind, loving person.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
