JEFFERSON, Shirley Elizabeth

Shirley Elizabeth Jefferson, age 82, passed away peacefully with her loving daughters by her side on May 29th, 2023. She was born in Kirkland Lake and was the daughter of John Neil Campbell and Cora Elizabeth Nixon. She is survived by her husband, David, of 57 years. She was the proud mother of her daughters, Elizabeth, Susan Favero (Paul), Alison (David Beauch) and son, David, grandmother of Jordanna Fenn (Scott), Tessa Favero, and Elliott Houchin Jefferson. Above all, Shirley will be remembered for her love of her family. She loved cooking family dinners with everyone around. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and was always interested in their day-to-day lives. Shirley will also be remembered for her incredible strength. With her husband, David, she raised four children and re-entered the workforce eventually retiring from the Canada Revenue Agency. Later in life with challenging health issues, her strength continued. She was so proud to complete several 5km races with her daughters. Shirley loved to travel, especially to visit her daughter, Elizabeth, in California. She also loved the comfort of her home, and with the support of her family and core team, including Dr.Katie Richardson, she was able remain there until nine months ago. Shirley’s love and strength will live on in her family who will do their best to continue to make her proud. A special thank you to the staff on the Ramsey Scenic Unit at Pioneer Manor who cared for mom and supported her family. Shirley also loved animals and had several pets, including a few strays during her life. Donations to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society in Shirley’s memory would be greatly appreciated. As Shirley wished, a private family celebration of her life will occur. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
