KARKAS, Aulis (Al) - In loving memory of Aulis “Al“ Karkas, 84 years, who passed away peacefully at the Sudbury Regional Hospital on Tuesday, October 5th, 2010 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his parents Matti and Liisa Karkas (Finland), brother Lauri and sister Eine, Hilkka and Laura. Beloved wife and best friend of Maire Sundholm. Loving stepfather to Jari Sundholm (Hameenlinna, Finland) and Christopher Sundholm (wife Terri) of Fort McMurray. Proud Pappa to Nikita and Jack of Finland and Mila, Kail, Lily and Tula of Fort McMurray. Al will be fondly remembered for his keen sense of humor and love of fishing, golf and the outdoors. He came to Canada from Finland in 1951 and was a successful Contractor in the Sudbury region. The family will be honouring Al""s wishes of no visitation or service. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Maire and family wish to thank everyone for their loving support and kindnesses during this difficult time. A Celebration of Life will be organized at a later date.
