KEEN, Ernest “Ernie“ - In loving memory of Ernest “Ernie“ Keen of Azilda, Ontario and Bradenton, Florida who passed away peacefully on Monday, December 24, 2012 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 78 years. He is predeceased by his parents Doreen (nee Cormier) and Gabriel Keen. Sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years Patricia “Pat“ (nee Lauriault), children Judy Keen-Garner (Gord), Janice Stevens (Serge Gratton), Jennifer Keen (Paolo Lepre), Jerome Keen (Lilian) and honourary daughter Debbie Cooper. Adored by his grandchildren Matthew Fleming (Miranda Forbes), Brandon Stevens and Samuel Keen. Dear brother of Arthur Keen, Ken Keen (Hely), predeceased by his sister Christine King (Mike). Brother-in-law to Roly and Marg Lauriault, Donald and Maureen Lauriault and Eric and Georgette Lauriault. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Ernie was employed by the United Nations and his occupation took him and his family around the world. In his retirement, he loved to travel with Pat to Asia, Europe and South America. He was always happiest when surrounded by family and friends and often entertained in his home hosting his famous prime rib and barbecue dinners. An avid golfer for many years, his love for golf resulted in a hobby of making custom golf clubs for many family and friends. His quest for the “big moose“ took him to BC for many years to hunt and often with success. The mischievous glint in his eyes and his cute smile will be missed by all who knew him. At the request of the family, there is no visitation. A memorial mass and celebration of his life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Maison VALE Hospice and the Arthritis Society. In memory of Ernie, please perform an act of kindness or generosity to someone less fortunate. Arrangements entrusted to the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME. To light a memorial candle, donations or messages of condolences available on-line at www.lougheed.org.
