KEENAN, Kerry - After a valiant and courageous twelve year battle with melanoma, Kerry passed away peacefully at his home in Collingwood on Friday July 6, 2012. Much loved husband and soul-mate of Brenda. Dear father of Siobhan ( David) and Ashley (Noah). Proud and adored Grampa of Austin , Parker and Aibhlin. Cherished brother of Michael (Anne), Breen (Judy), Mary Catherine (Ed) and Sharon. Fondly remembered by Peggy Keenan and her children and by Brenda's children Jennifer and Matthew, her mother Joan,and her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Frank. Sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, students and friends whose lives he touched with his endless “ joie de vivre“ and endearing sense of humour. Son of the late Vincent and Viola, Kerry was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. Following his graduation from the University of Toronto, he then went on to enjoy an exceptionally successful career at the Toronto District School Board. Kerry's innate ability to make History come alive in the classroom was an inspiration to his many students and colleagues. Brenda would like to thank her dear neighbours, Barbie and Bill, whose endless support was invaluable over the past difficult months. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bryan Marshall for his loving care and compassion for Kerry. Thanks also to Dr. Teresa Petrella for her support. A celebration of Kerry's life will take place at a funeral mass on Wednesday, July 11th at 1:00pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Collingwood. At Kerry's request there will be no visitation.
