KIRWAN, Edith (Edee) - It is with heavy, sad hearts that the Kirwan family announces the passing of Edith (Edee) Kirwan (79 years), of Garson, Ontario, who went to heaven on May 1 2013 after a very brave fight with Cancer. Edee was born in Sandy Lake Manitoba on February 13, 1934. She graduated from Sudbury High School and continued on to do one year in nursing and then went on to receive a certificate in lab technology. Edee was married to John James (Jim) Kirwan on September 12, 1953. They were married 59 and a half years. Edee worked as a lab technician for a few years in the 1960s and early 70s. Her true passion was found in her skilled ability to sew, knit, crochet and create things. She was a master quilter. In addition, Edee was a talented musician playing electronic keyboard and was a member of the band “Three and a tub“ for most of the 80s and 90s. Edee also practiced her creativity in the kitchen where she excelled at cooking and baking. She was also actively involved in St John's Church as a parishioner and a member of the Catholic Women's League (CWL). Edee will be lovingly and forever remembered by her husband Jim, daughters Lori and Angie (Rob), sons Bart (Leslie) and Tony, her sister Lily (Guy) Bergeron, best friend Betty Bonhomme and many other family members and friends. Edee is preceded in death by her mother Tina and father Harry Lashuk. The Kirwan family wishes to thank the staff on 4th floor North at the Ramsey Health Center for their kindness and wonderful care of Edee during her final few weeks fight with Cancer. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury (Friends may call 7 - 9 p.m. Thursday). Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Garson with Father Jim Ketzler officiating. Friday, May 3rd, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Northern Cancer Center Research Foundation.
