LA ROCQUE, Allan

November 20, 2012 65

LA ROCQUE, Allan - A guiding light to his family, Allan La Rocque, 65, passed away on November 18th 2012 at his favorite cottage in Sudbury. He was born on April 9th, 1947 to Percy and Sally La Rocque. Allan grew up in Lively as a very humble and generous soul right from his younger years. He graduated from Laurentian University in Sudbury with several degrees. He had his Bachelor of Science (Liberal), his BA and his Bachelor of Education. Learning was an ongoing goal. He was also a recent recipient of his diploma in Theology. His passion was his religion. He made a difference in many lives. As a dedicated teacher for the Catholic School Board for over 33 years he always saw the potential in every child. Allan married Mary, the love of his life, in 1980 after a five year courtship. They were happily married for many years. He was a cherished member of The Knights of Columbus and acquired the title of 4th Degree Knight. When he wasn't at church he enjoyed going out to dinner and watching classical movies with his daughter Wendy. There couldn't be a greater bond between father and daughter. He was known as a relentless teaser by his grandkids and had many wonderful nicknames for them. Many times he would say to his son in law, John (Wendy), that he was the son he never had. Allan also received many awards and accomplishments throughout his teaching and his involvement with the Knights. Allan was preceded in death by his wife Mary La Rocque, his mother and father, his grandmother Maria Vesanen, and his first wife Glenna. Allan is survived by his daughter Wendy, husband John Sallows. He is sadly missed by his grandchildren Tessie (Charles) Stevens, Chrissy (Ty) Sevigny, and Sarah General-Sallows and his great grandchildren Liam and Isla (who he thought was his wife Mary incarnate). He was a beloved brother to Susan (Ken) Fediuk. Loving Uncle to Amanda (Dave) Fediuk, and Keith Fediuk. Great Uncle to Alyssa and Joseph Phillips. He will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will welcome all visitors at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury from 2-9 pm on November 21st, 2012. Funeral Mass will follow on Thursday November 22nd, 2012 at Christ the King Church, 30 Beech St., Sudbury at 10 am, with burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Reception lunch to follow at The Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home. Donations to Liam and Isla's Education Fund would be appreciated.
