March 15, 2011 89

LACHAPELLE, Raymond - 1922-2011. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving father and grandfather after a short illness at the Sudbury Regional Hospital. Raymond Lachapelle was born in Embrun, Ontario to Josephat and Alice (née Lapalme). He moved to Sudbury where he met and married the love of his life Irène (née Comtois), predeceased in 2008. He leaves his three children Carmen (David Fraser) of Fort Lauderdale, Claude (Victoria) and Paul all of Sudbury. He was an incredibly proud much loved Grandpapa to Jodie and Cori Fraser of Fort Lauderdale, Tim (Heather), James (Mary) and Kassandra Lachapelle all of Sudbury. Raymond has three brothers, Gerald (Constance) of Sudbury, Emile (Jeanne) both deceased, Roland (Rhea) both deceased. He was a much loved and respected brother-in-law to Thérèse (Joseph Lachapelle), Hector (Aline), Florand (Germaine) all of Sudbury, Marcel (Cécile) of Ottawa, and predeceased by Marie (Henri Doyon), Diane (Henry Therrien) and Wilfrid (Marguerite). Raymond was educated in Sudbury graduating from one of the first graduating classes at Sheraton Technical College. During his life, Raymond owned and operated a confectionary store, served as a trustee of the separate school board and went on to become a Real Estate Agent Developer and retiring at the young age of 53 years. Raymond was a quiet man who took pleasure in the small things in life. He enjoyed his cottage in French River as well as many winters with his family in Florida. He was blessed with many years of good health but has missed his wife Irène as well as his god-child Marco. He is reunited with best friends Ellard Sloan, Johnny Beauchamp and Johnny Menard. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Sudbury Regional Hospital for their excellent care, most notably Dr. Tubin and nurses Paula and Lianne. We are so grateful for everything you all did! We would like to thank all of his homecare aides especially his most recent care giver Kai, who was caring for him in his final days. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. (at Notre-Dame), Sudbury, Monday, March 14, 2011 from 5 to 8:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 8:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations (by cheque only) to the Alzheimers Society, Northern Cancer Research Foundation or charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
