Age 69

It is with heavy and profound sadness in their hearts that the Twins announce the death of their One and Only brother Denis (Ti-Homme) of his sudden passing.  He is survived by his two siblings Suzette Mailloux (Gil) and Suzanne Gelinas (Lory).  He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Natalie, Michelle, and Denis (April) Mailloux, Chantal, Richard, and Marc (Megan) Gelinas.  Proud Great Uncle to Dustin (Maryse), Dylan, Nathan (Steph), Caitlin (T.J.), Aaron (Shannon), Jade, Oliver, Kassidy Marie, Emily, Taylor, and Aidan as well as GG Uncle to Maverick and Aryah. Former beloved husband and friend of Dara-Lynne.

Denis was and always will be our family’s protector and our beloved guardian in our lives, he shall continue to protect and watch over his beloved twin sisters and their families, from Heaven.

Of the multiple yearly trips Denis made up north to Timmins, Iroquois Falls and Val Gagne Ontario, his most enjoyable time of his visits was to drop a line at the “ No Name Lakes ” to catch his favorite # 1 fish Pickerel with the Boys on the May Run long weekends and up until ice formed on the lakes, all bets were on for the first fish, the biggest and the most catch of the day every season by keeping records on a yearly basis.   Not rain, hail, sleet, or snow would distract the fishing parties as they would say we live in the North and we are not made of sugar, we are built Strong, as his close-knit families would enjoy gathering at these fish fry dinners.  The storytellers would reminisce about the Big Ones that got away.  The brothers-in-law always ensured that Denis would have a few fillets put aside for him to bring to his freezer to relish and enjoy a few more meals in anticipation of the next fishing trip. Another must have meal was getting a pie at Don’s Pizzeria in Timmins on every trip up north, ready for pick-up upon his arrival and departure from the city.

Denis worked as a tradesman in numerous cities, Timmins, Hamilton, Alberta, Kitimat, Vancouver, Ottawa and lastly in Sudbury in the electrical field as he apprenticed under his father’s wing in Timmins (Vet’s Electric).  He was known as a Jack of all Trades, as he was always ready to troubleshoot the problems and be ready and available to give a helping hand to all his family members and friends, at the drop of a hat.

Meegwetch goes out to Jenn Edman, patient navigator, Crista-Lee, nurse practitioner at Shkagamik-Kwe Health Center, for your compassion, care, and spirituality, as Denis navigated his short cancer journey, it is greatly appreciated by his family.

Predeceased by his parents Rosaire and Marie (Dumont) and his older sibling Estelle Briand and as well as his godchild Rachelle Lina Briand.  As per his wishes, cremation has taken place with no funeral service.  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date and his ashes will be buried in the family plot at the Timmins Cemetery.

Our Dearest brother and Mon Oncle Denis, “You are the Strongest person I know.”  All of your beloved family shall miss your unexpected surprise visits when you would knock three times on our window at the break of dawn.  Forever in our hearts, you shall remain and will never be forgotten.  On the wings of an angel, God Speed My Bro, until we meet again. Love Always and Forever
