Robert (Rob) Martin Lafrenie passed away on February 16, 2024, at Maison McCulloch Hospice in Sudbury at the age of 62.
Rob was a kind, caring and loving husband to his wife and best friend Angie having shared the past 14 years of his life. He will be sadly missed by his mother Marion Haddock and brother Mark Lafrenie (Heather), nephew Eli Lafrenie, and nieces Whitney (Darnel) Lafrenie, Payge (Sean) Lafrenie. Predeceased by Grandparents Robert and Edna Staples and Uncle Jack Staples.
Rob had a passion for science, having dedicated much of his life to studying alternative therapeutics for cancer. He was a brilliant man with a creative mind, always able to think outside of the box. Being a scientist wasn’t just a job for him, it was his way of life. Rob was a selfless man who dedicated his life to teaching others. He taught several courses at Laurentian University and Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) and supervised many undergraduate and graduate students. He was a great mentor who truly cared about the success of his students. Rob made a positive impact on the lives of so many, he will be greatly missed.
The family would like to send thanks to the Symptoms Management Team at the Northeast Cancer Center and a special thanks to the entire staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness.
