On Monday, March 21, 2022, the Lainsbury family unexpectedly lost their ultimate hero. William “Bill” Lainsbury succumbed to cardiac related symptoms and was found holding and being comforted by his beloved dog Nellie at his time of death.

Bill was born in Timmins, Ontario on August 31st, 1949. While Timmins always embedded his roots, Bill married his high school sweetheart Judy and they lived most of their 52 years of marriage raising their two daughters in Sudbury, Ontario. As a successful Mining Sales Engineer, Bill was fortunate to travel the globe for many years and visit many countries before his career was suddenly halted in 1999. Bill naturally lit up any room he entered. Family and friends have many fond memories of his clever, comical and caring virtues as well as his love for nature.

Family members will be scattering Bill’s ashes in a private ceremony at his favourite lake and in the Lainsbury Family Plot at the Tisdale Cemetery.  To honor Bill’s memory there will be a Celebration Of Life held in Timmins, in June, where Friends and Family are invited to honour a special husband, father, Poppy, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Judith“Judy”(Lacourse); his precious daughters Lesley Anne Lainsbury-Jowsey of Colorado and Tracy-Lynn Lainsbury-Bertrand (Richard) of Sudbury; his cherished grandchildren Emily Jowsey (Periun) of Colorado, Broedy Bertrand of Sudbury, Mason Jowsey (Morgan) of Colorado, Quintin Bertrand (Marissa) of Sudbury and Parker Bertrand (Brooke) of Sudbury; loved brother Edward Lainsbury (Dawn) of Cannington; treasured sister Mary Witkowski (Mirek) of Timmins, loved dearly brothers and sisters-in-laws and many adored nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his devoted parents Kenneth and Irene (Boutin) Lainsbury, his loving brother Raymond Lainsbury (Gerry), and cherished sister-in-law (Patsy) and brother-in-laws (Fern and Gilles). His tireless love and devotion to his family and canine Nellie were evident in his final moments.  Anyone wishing to make a donation could consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Diabetes Canada in memory of Bill.
