LAKE, ANNE MARY - Anne Mary Lake (nee Hicks) Peacefully, surrounded by her family, at York Extendicare,at age 92. Beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Lake predeceased 1989. Loving mother and mother in law to Judy and Breen Keenan, David and Denise Sykes. Proud “Nanny”, to her four grandsons, their wives, and nine great grandchildren. Scott and Lisa Keenan and their children Katherine, Grace and Michael; Joseph and Carolina Keenan and their children Hannah, Joseph and Jacob; Ted and Christine Keenan and their daughter Sophie, and Trevor and Karen Sykes and their children Lindsey and William. She is also survived by three siblings and their families; Shirley and Len Perron of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Gail and John Nawrowki of Flin Flon, Manitoba and Brian and Bette Hicks of Snow Lake, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her parents Philip and Mary Hicks; her brothers Harold and Walter Hicks and sister Phyllis Haslund. Anne was born September 12, 1919, in Inwood, Manitoba. For many years she was employed at Cochrane Dunlop Hardware and Evans Lumber. She and Bill retired to winter in Cape Canaveral Florida and summer on Long Lake. Artistic and creative she crafted many family treasures. She was a good golfer and loved to play cards, particularly bridge. She was a proud member of the Eastern Star for over fifty years. Mom actively participated in life, made many friends on her life’s journey and was loved. The family wishes to thank Julie Payette and the staff of Extendicare York for the loving care they gave our Mother. Cremation. A celebration of Anne’s Life will be held at the Sudbury Shrine, 256 Elm St. W., Sudbury on Thursday, November 3rd, 2011. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. with the Memorial Service at 2 p.m. and reception to follow. Interment of ashes in the Greenwood Cemetery, Brantford. If desired donations in Anne’s memory may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Peter’s United Church Memorial Fund, or to the Inner City Home would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home.
